THE SEARCH: The Names Brand Tee's

Many moons ago (pre HML) I was at a bar with a few girlfriends.  We were dancing and having a great time, when suddenly we were interrupted (read: hit on) by a group of guys who absolutely needed fake I.D.s to get into the bar...It was cute at first, but then it took a very serious and sad turn. 

One of the guys was wearing a shirt with four names on it: Mick, Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie, so naturally I asked him if he was a big Rolling Stone fan, and the following is what transpired:

Silly Boy: That's a random question, is that your typical pick-up line?
Me: Excuse me?
Silly Boy: Is that the best you got?
Me: It's not a pick up line, I asked cause of your shirt.
Silly Boy: What about my shirt?
Me: Really?
Silly Boy: Really!
Me: Did you get that shirt as a gift?
Silly Boy: No, why?
Me: Oy (well that's even worse) why did you buy it?
Silly Boy: Cause my name is Charlie, and the shirt is cool :)
Me: Heh, well, it's very nice to meet you Charlie, but can I let you in on a little secret?
Silly Boy: Sure?
Me: Wearing that shirt is not cool, if you don't know who The Rolling Stones are.

(Not) Missing LOST

I don't really miss LOST, but then I see something like this (which is hilarious) and my heart hurts a little...but just a little cause you know, we got gyped (jerks).

BEST OF 2010: A Fan Is Born

When I married KL, I also wed the Atlanta Braves.  When players like Jason Heyward come around, I feel proud that he is a member of our extended family.  And in case you are wondering, YES, I think the cool aid taste very good..All this week, I am doing a retrospective and re-blogging some of my old favorites - hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane.

KL is a HUGE sports fan, and he loves all things Georgia (which is where he was born).  As a result, I have acquired (what I consider to be) an exorbitant amount of information pertaining to either the Atlanta Braves, the Georgia Bulldogs, or the Atlanta Falcons.  I know players names, occasionally remember positions, have learned about team rivals, mascots, uniforms, have broken down game tape (does anyone even know what that means?) and even come to appreciate the back stories on young players.

I bring this up, because yesterday in our household, it was a national holiday (a.k.a. opening day for Major League Baseball) and naturally KL takes this day very seriously (and with lots of excitement).  He literally takes the day off from work, has an outfit picked out the night before (which consists of a braves t-shirt, with a braves jersey over it, and a braves hat - in case you missed it, he's a braves fan), there is beer in the fridge, hot dogs on the grill, and everything is ready to go for game time.

Now, I am at work minding my own business, when I realize that his game has started (it's funny how I call it his game isn't it) and begin to wonder if KL is a happy or miserable camper.  Before I call to check in, I decide to prepare myself, so I google 'Atlanta Braves opening game' and was SHOCKED at what I found and more shocked that I cared...OMG am I turning into KL?  I'm not wearing any Braves paraphernalia am I?  I had to look to be sure.

As I read my google results, I learn very quickly that in his first at bat as a MLB player, on his first swing (2-0 count) Jason Heyward (it's ok, you can chant it) hit a home run.  Now, I have been hearing about this guy for a while - and probably longer than you because your husband isn't KL.  I have been supportive, I've asked questions, haven't even needed to fake interest because this guy sounded amazing, and I was actually looking forward to seeing if he could live up to the hype.  But never did I actually think that 20 year old rookie phenom Jason Heyward, would make me feel like his proud mother.

And I did, and it was weird - but I LOVED IT.

I will say this in closing, and then hopefully will never talk baseball again (no offense KL).  The reason why I like baseball is because of Jason Heyward.  It's because of the dream, and smashing it out of the park at the first opportunity you get, so they never forget your name.  It's also why I love American Idol, debut albums, Survivor, first novels, and true freshman (see - I also know a thing or two about football :).  As the announcer so perfectly puts it (watch the video here) WELCOME TO THE SHOW.

Team Mondo

I am still slightly in mourning from the season finale of Project Runway, why didn't Mondo win again?  He is the best designer hands down (ask anyone) and was by far the most inspirational contestant in the show's history.  I am forever a member of Team Mondo and can't wait to see what he does next.  The moral: winning doesn't actually make you the winner, it's all the other stuff.
