My Right Brain

11 Months

This happens on a daily basis (substitute flower for anything) and welcome to my life :)
--
Mom: HML do not eat that flower.

HML: Puts flower near mouth (but does not eat it).

Mom: I know you understand me - I said, do not eat that flower.

HML: Lowers hand holding flower, and gives me THE LOOK - then slowly and deliberately puts the flower back towards her mouth (keeps eye contact the entire time - but does not eat it).

Mom: Noooooo!

HML: Lowers hand holding flower and quickly puts flower near mouth (but does not eat it).

Mom: Noooooo!

HML: Lowers hand holding flower and quickly puts flower near mouth, then smirks.

Mom: Noooooooooooo!

HML: Puts flower near mouth and goes in for the kill (my parents are SO stupid).

Mom: Physically removes flower from 11 month old vice grip.

HML: Screams - gives me THE LOOK - and then happily finds something else to put in her mouth :)

Since I posted the pregnancy photo series on Wednesday's, it felt right to continue that rhythm.  I hope you appreciate my attempt at self discipline, and ENJOY, CHERISH, AND HONOR all things teeny-weeny...but only on Wednesday's :)

The Travel Bug

HML and I are off to visit Nana and Zadie for a few days (giving KL some well deserved Dad time off).  I wonder what % of the weekend he will NOT spend on the couch - ahhhh, how fun!  We sure are going to miss those shoulders!  I plan to document our trip mostly on Instagram and Twitter, so follow me there for some extra special fun (warning: my feed is 98% baby).  Ps. Wish me luck flying solo :).

10 Months

HML is ten months old today (YAY) and over the last few weeks we have seen major changes:

• OPINIONATED: Like never before, HML has a clear sense of what she wants.  Her grunts and endless pointing/reaching have become deliberate and focused.  She never wants just anything and if you give her the wrong item (gasp) she throws it on the floor like it's chopped liver...DADDY, I WANT AN OOMPA LOOMPA NOW!
• TEETH: HML is our own little vampire.  Her two bottom teeth and top right and left have broken through - but her top two in the center are late to the party.  It makes chewing a little difficult, but once those top center teeth make an appearance we are gonna have a major food party (once we stop sucking your blood).
• STANDING: She has taken small little steps (and then face planted) but walking seems like a long way away.  HML is still however an expert in balancing, and just this morning wobbled unassisted for about 45 seconds. 
• SLEEPING: Thankfully, we are doing great is this department (knock on wood).  Yes she is still a little fussy at times, but on the whole we are (all) sleeping through the night (11.5 hours is her usual) and napping has become less of a fight.
• INDEPENDENT:  Because we have someone to look after HML while KL and I work during the day, it's rare that HML is on her own.  For a few months we had been encouraging independent play and just recently it seems to have stuck.  We can now sit on the ground with her and she almost ignores us for her bottomless basket of toys.
• HAIR: She's still pretty much bald (in this department there is very little change) and as a result is often mistaken for a boy (I don't really care, but ALWAYS correct people - so maybe I care a little :).  Her color seems to be getting lighter and lighter (in her eye brows too) and who knows when it will stop.

Teeny-Weeny Wednesday is being celebrated on Thursday in honor of 10 months!

Quality

Over the holiday we flew across the country to visit our East coast family (many of whom had never met HML).  In addition to spending lots of quality time together, KL got to show off our bundle to all of his besties.  After arriving back home, it took us a few days to get her back on track, but I think (knock on wood) we have it under control.  The whole slave to the sleeping schedule is no joke (sigh). 

Cute side-note: From the moment she was born, it's always been easy to know when HML is tired because she rubs her head and kinda plays with her hair (shown below while being fed by Grandma).  

The bottom two photos are literally the first moments HML met her GG Bob and GG Betty (so sweet).
