Recently, my friend SH moved out of LA (actually, she is just one of many who have recently departed - seems to be going around - sigh). Although I was sad to see her go, she very kindly left me with some of her art supplies (because she knew that they would be put to good use - and because she is just sweet :).
My favorite item (although it was hard to choose) was a tin box filled with scrap paper - but not just any type paper - this tin was filled with really nice, high end paper. I know it might sound odd (why do I want her scraps) but the truth is, I will totally use them and probably be more inspired by the mess of color, different shapes, and different sized papers than I ever imaged.
Having all of my scraps together (I have since added into the tin and I am sure it will continue to grow) I realized that I became extra motivated to not only save scraps more often, but have become more likely put them to good use (for cards, packaging supplies etc) and I kinda love it. This book (found in The Crafts Department over at MS) is also a really smart way to store these materials, and I am thinking about transferring to this, but am still not sure if it's needed - how do you store your scraps? Do you find storing them together in one place inspires you to use them more? I am interested to know what you think?
