Every once in a while I stumble on a site that is the coolest of the cool, I tell everyone about it and even then, I never get sick of spreading the awesomeness (it's kinda like my love for John Frusciante). Anyway, Letters of Note, is up there with JWZ's passion for KoKo, and KL's commitment to HGTV (don't deny the love boys). If you are not familiar with the site, Letters of Note is a blog-based archive of correspondence, complete with scans and transcripts of the original postcards, telegrams, faxes, and memos (learn more here) deserving of a wider audience (and updated weekly :). Subjects range from the music industry (a letter from Elivs to President Nixon) entertainment news (a expletive filled letter written by Hunter S. Thompson or David Bowie's first American fan letter reply) awesome perspectives (a letter from Kurt Vonnegut while he was behind enemy lines in 1944) Frank being Frank, Hugh Hefner's love of Marilyn, sweetness (the funniest letter EVER to President Eisenhower about Elvis and a love letter shared between Freda and Diego) heartbreaking (Five sons in the navy) and triumphant (a letter to be sent to Mrs Churchill in the event of my death). Such an interesting way to look back at history and see a side of things you never imaged - enjoy the history lesson, it will not be disappointing.
