Photorealism has always interested me. In part because I can't do it (but really respect it) and in part because it kinda freaks me out. Chuck Close (probably the most famous photorealist painter) acheived fame through his massive scale portrais, and since then many have followed in his path. Kristi Ropeleski is a young Montreal artists who I first noticed in Elle Girl, and although she is not entirely a photorealist, her work embodies similar attributes. Her work is raw, engaging, and 100% about the portrait.
