Transparent Appliances

Just the other day my brother and I were talking about how cool it would be to have transparent appliances, we had some specific questions about how the dishwasher worked and felt that if the appliance were transparent, our questions would be answered.  Shortly after that conversation I got an email about transparent appliances (which is totally WEIRD and random in its own right, and should be the subject of another post for another time).  Anyway, they aren't everything I imaged, but still pretty cool - don't you think?  I would totally watch my clothing get washed in that machine!

Camel Balsa

Before we got this, I so wanted this Camel Balsa from Areaware (but Kevin put his foot down).  I actually think that in the end he was right, but I still miss what could have been.

33 Stewart Avenue

In case my brother wasn't thinking about food enough, he just purchased the BEST prints from 33 Stewart Avenue for his apartment.  Since he moved in (last year) he has slowly been personalizing his space, (and it's coming a long really well) but he has been hesitant about putting things on the walls (which must be hereditary because I have the same problem).  Well, he is finally taking the plunge, and has purchased art for his bathroom (you gotta start somewhere).  These food carts are perfect for him, especially since they are (most likely) the reason why he is in the bathroom in the first place :)

Baby Rooms and Nursery Inspirations

Is it me, or is everyone popping out a kid?  So many new parents, so many little babies, so many pregnant moms - so many cute new rooms to decorate!  The best part about nursery inspiration (other than the growing miracle in your belly) is that there are no rules when making a special space for your new delivery.  You could literally vomit pink, and people would tell you how good it looks (you know what I mean).  Ok, if you have a bun in the oven and are feeling totally lost, you could start here, which suggests finding a piece that you already have/love and building a room around that.  Or if you have a home office that you are turning into your nursery, this is for you. Project Nursery also has tons of resources, so be sure to check them out.  Of course not everyone has the space (sigh) but if you got it - flaunt it (and if you don't, just steal some of the ideas below and make it work for you and your lack of space).  Oh, and for those of us without growing wee ones, remember practice makes perfect ...As always the images below open up to their store - making exploring easier :)

Cardon Webb's Cardon Copy

'MISSION: Carbon Copy, take the vernacular of self distributed fliers and tear-offs we have all seen in our neighborhoods.  It involves hijacking these unconsidered fliers and redesigning them, overpowering their message with a new visual language.  I then replace the original with the redesign in its authentic environment'.  I LOVE this idea (it's like Extreme Makeover self made flier edition) and although the official show has closed, you can still see all of the work and pictures of the exhibition here or visit the site of designer Cardon Webb.  This show is so smart, and it really does make you think about presentation, I absolutely look twice at that room for rent sign, wouldn't you?
